Really quick, before I begin this review, I just want to say that that's how you end a book. A simple fulfilling ending that answers questions. You don't need to end things on a cliffhanger! I promise you going to pick up the next book. So thank you Riley Hart. If I didn't stand you before, I stand you now.Anyways this book is just beautiful. I mean the writing was stunning, Jared's character was honest and (for me) relatable, and Kieran was hot as I don't know what. Seriously, how is it possible for words on the page to be such a turn-on? I ask again, how!? I mean I have read some good smut in my day but Lord! Riley Hart you have ruined me!There's not much I can say about this book that won't either give things away or sound redundant. And there's not much I want to say because I kind of went into this blind and I think you should too. Just know it's a beautiful character study with some smut that will make a sinner side eye you. I guess if you don't like Daddy Kink, don't read but this is definitely a digestible form of it so I would still give it a chance if I were in that boat. But as I am trash for all things Daddy, I was very much enthralled with the kink here.I should note that this is not a romance. Not really. Normally I would gripe about that but because of how this book ends and because there is a second book, I can't rightfully complain. Going in, I didn't even know that this wasn't going to be a romance and you know what, I didn't really miss it. Kieran is caring and kind to Jared. They're sweet together and there is love there. Even if it's not romantic love you can feel it. I think if you're going to write kinky erotica, this is how you do it. It would have been very easy to write a hot but cold dom with an inexperienced sub and call it good. It's not like those books don't already exist and I can't say I have enjoyed them but this was much more my speed. A lot of thought and love went into this and it shows.Anyways 10 stars because I already bought book to and I wouldn't want to read it. Thank God this woman has a massive back list because I'm about to binge. I will not give away any spoilers, because I hate that!!Let me start by saying that although this is definitely different than her other books, the essence of Riley is still there in every word. I absolutely loved it! I’m an avid BDSM reader from the very light to the very not so light 😜. In actuality, I don’t even want to call this book BDSM because many of those who don’t read the genre, think BDSM is whips, chains, flogging and/or pain and humility. It can be and that’s by no means a bad thing, but it can be so much more as well. This book is an excellent example of more!! I started this book right before GRL while I was crazy busy getting ready to leave my family and did not finish until I returned home. In hindsight, I wish I would have waited until I returned so I could have read it in one sitting. When I started reading it, I wasn’t quite sure where the story was going …Was it going to be BDSM light? Was it going to go really dark? or Was it going somewhere that I would not be interested in?? All valid questions in my mind. I will admit, it started slow for me but not because of the writing, but because of my own uncertainty as to what this book was going to be about. Once I figured it out, there was no stopping me from finishing it and loving it.This is different than any other BDSM book I’ve read. As Riley said to me, it’s a character study, and oh boy is it ever!! It delivers a fresh, in-depth perspective as to why some need and fiercely desire this type of relationship. As she delves in to the lives of Jared and Kiernan, you really begin to understand the dynamic of a Dom and Sub relationship and the need for these roles in their lives. And of course, Riley being Riley, her characters tug at your heart strings all along the way. I think if you’ve never read any type of BDSM, you should absolutely read this, and if you have read some, you should definitely read this.I can not wait to read Jared’s Fulfillment and see where they take us. I do not think it’s going to be an easy journey, and I’m completely ok with that. I do know there will be a HEA because Riley wouldn’t have it any other way!! Do I wish it was all one book?? You betcha…But, I think that was her evil plan all along!! 😀 Kudos Riley...Job so well done!
